Worship Overview

Our worship services are as varied and multidimensional as our members. Generally, the service is led by our minister, although once a month or so an individual member, committee, or guest minister will act as leader.

A standard order of service usually includes: opening announcements, welcome words and lighting of the chalice, the singing of hymns by the choir and congregation, a story for the children, the sharing of joys and sorrows from the past week, moments of meditation, pulpit editorials from members, musical performances, poetry readings, the sermon and responses from the congregation, and a benediction.

Service topics vary widely and embrace many different viewpoints on spirituality. The dialogue includes discussion and references to Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, humanism, Hinduism, paganism, Native American spirituality and even scientific theory. We believe that exploring many perspectives helps us to challenge and refine our own personal beliefs. Our worship is respectful of all points of view, and the goal is to create an atmosphere in which all congregants can feel safe and welcomed.

Worship services are held on Sundays from 10 to 11am. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers. Children join us in the sanctuary until 10:15, at which point they are brought downstairs for classes. Social hour follows at 11am. We invite you to join us.
