Welcome to the Unitarian Universalist
Society of Grafton and Upton. Ours is a liberal religious organization
which requires no creedal statement or test of faith to join.
As Dr. Angus MacLean, one of our religious thinkers and educators,
put it, “ The church is the agency with which we implement
our faith in corporate fellowship to do what we cannot do as
individuals to promote peace and happiness in the world.”
I hope that you'll join us for worship or other activities. (Check our
calendar for details.) Feel free to contact me if you'd like
more information about worship, religious education, pastoral
care, or other programs. If I don't have an answer, I’ll
connect you with someone who does.
My own journey to the Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton and
Upton started many years ago when my husband and I bought our
first home. We wanted to find a religious home for ourselves
and our children. We chose Unitarian Universalism because we
had both fallen away from the beliefs we'd grown up with. What
we remembered about our past religious experience was the religious
narrative, the music, and a caring community, and we wanted
these things in our lives again.
Hearing about Unitarian Universalism, we became active in a local congregation.
I volunteered to teach and, over the years, expanded my skill
set along with my circle of friends. Our children benefited
greatly from community activities, religious education, and
the many relationships they found there, too. Science proves
it again and again: people of all ages gain all kinds of well-being
from being part of a religious community.
We are volunteer run and led, which means we welcome your input and
passion, ideas and beliefs. People from different faiths, or
none, often find a comfortable place in this religious community.
Ours is truly a home for explorating values and beliefs, as
well as a place to live those values.
This is my third year as the settled minister of a creative, dedicated,
and warm congregation. Being part of this community’s
spiritual life is exciting and challenging as we grow. Our historic
congregation is working to address twenty-first century needs,
both locally and globally. We dream big dreams. Join us and
together we may realize them.
Peace,
Rev. Eliza Blanchard
